The Synopsis

It is a movie about people in the searching for peace and “heaven” in life, here on earth and after. In their quest, sometimes people have to go through the worst experience. Using the October 2002 Bali Bombing tragedy as the setting, the movie tells the stories from different point of views.

Hannah Catrelle (Mirrah Foulkes), an American woman is living in Bali when the explosion occurred. In the midst of the chaos she meets Hajj Ismail (Joshua Pandelaki), a Balinese moslem. Through this encounter, Hannah learns more about the real Islam and how prejudice can lead to terrible misunderstandings.

Meanwhile, Liz Thompson (Raelee Hill), an Australian reporter arrived in Bali seven months later. Accompanied by Wayan Diya (Alex Komang); a Balinese who lost a relative in the tragedy; Liz went through a journey where she finds a new understanding about the Balinese philosophy.

The story itself is based on factual research which brought us to a better perspective upon humanity. It is a lesson in life of how a tragedy can create stronger bonds and better solidarity regardless people’s nationality, race and religion. A real long journey for a true understanding.

Furthermore, Long Road to Heaven is also simply answering one of a big question in life: “Is there a short cut to heaven?”.
